TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

All donations are welcome, we will pick up. Your donations are appreciated. Hours of operation are: Thurs., 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-7838 or 706-359-7345.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Help with heat

The Energy Assistance Program began taking applications Wed., Nov. 1 for homebound and elderly 65 years and older households to pay their home heating costs. If funds are available, it will be opened to the general public Fri., Dec. 1.

Applications for Lincoln County will be taken at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Nov. 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. only. If you cannot make these dates, you must apply at one of their local locations. For more information, please call 1-866-722-4346.

Toy Run Dec. 9

Lincoln Iron Horse will hold its annual Toy Run on Saturday, December 9 beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Everyone will meet at the American Legion Post 194, a short ride will leave the Post at 10:30 and travel to the DFACS office.

Unwrapped toy donations may be dropped off at the Post between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. A truck and trailer will be there for larger toys.

Toys will benefit the Lincoln County Department of Family and Children Services. Please help make this a special Christmas for the needy children.

Space available

The Lincoln County Pre-K Program has spaces available at this time for the 2006 - 2007 school year.

Children must have been four years of age on or before September 1. Children may attend who ae five years of age. The family must be a resident of Lincoln County.

Parents interested in enrolling their child should contact Mollie Wagoner, Pre-K Resource Coordinator, by calling 706-359-5244 during regular school hours.

Pastors anniversary

The 21st Pastoral Anniversary of Rev. Willie J. White will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Sun., Dec. 3 at 11:15 a.m. Rev. Jesse Johnson, pastor of Rehoboth Baptist Church will be guest minister. Everyone is invited.

Youth Leadership Lincoln applications are now available for local area high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Applications may be pickedup from the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and Development Authority office, Lincoln County Family Connection office, or the Lincoln County High School Counselor's office. Youth Leadership Lincoln is a 4-month program that will begin in January. Applications are due by Mon., Dec. 11, 2006. For more information call 706- 359-7970 or 706-359-5769.

Living history perform.

The Robert Toombs House State Historic Sites' living history performers will present a delightful Christmas experience on Sat., Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

As part of the Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites' 75th anniversary celebration, "Santa and his elves" will bring to life seventy-five years of Christmas music by bringing the lyrics to life. Admission is free. Contact Ashley or Marcia for more information at 706-678-2226.

Candlelight service

Harmony Baptist Church Missionary Ministry will be hosting its annual "Missionary Candlelight Service" on Sun., Dec. 17, at 5 p.m. Rev. Robert Crawford and Mt. Zion Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. All are invited and welcomed. Come out and be blessed. Rev. Freddie Neal, Sr. is pastor.

Choir anniversary

Harmony Baptist Church Choir will be celebrating its third anniversary on Sun., Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. All are invited and welcomed to come help us lift up the name of Jesus! Rev. Freddie Neal, Sr. is pastor.

Auxiliary to meet

The American Legion Auxiliary will have its monthly meeting on Dec. 14, 7:30 p.m. at the post home.

All members are asked to bring a $10 gift wrapped and finger foods. The items for the food panty are: canned fruit and instant potatoes.

Bids wanted

The Lincoln County High School Cheerleaders are requesting bids for providing a 50'x70'x20' steel frame metal practice building.

If interested, please contact Andy Wengrow at 706-401-9597 for bid specifications. Sealed bids will be opened on Dec. 1, 10 a.m. at the Lincoln County Board of Education Office. Bids must be received by Nov. 30.

SALS to meet

The Sons of the American Legion will have its monthly meeting on Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are asked to please attend meeting.

Christmas concert

First Assembly of God will present a Christmas Concert on Sun., Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.

The concert will feature the Sanctuary Choir and Children's Choir along with soloists, trios and ensembles. The music will be a blend of familiar Christmas carols as well as songs from past cantatas. A nursery will be provided. For more information, call the church office at 359- 7237.

Breakfast buffet

Faith Temple will have its First Saturday All You Can Eat Breakfast Buffet on Sat., Dec. 2 from 7 - 10 a.m. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for 11 and under.

Society to meet

The Lincoln County Historical Society will meet on Wed., Dec. 6 at 11:30 a.m. for the monthly covered dish lunch meeting.

Wednesday mornings are always work days. Plan to discuss the lessons learned from this year's Pioneer Day while it is fresh on our minds. Bring your lessons learned, written down if possible, to give them to our team leaders. Members and anyone interested in a good time are encouraged to attend. Also, and most importantly, bring something good to eat. Please note the changed meeting time.

WLTC performance

The Washington Little Theater Company, located at 313-C North Alexander Ave, is announcing that on Sat., Dec. 2 at 3 and 8 p.m. and Sun., Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. nationally renowned Atlanta based improvisational comedy act, Dad's Garage, will perform at the theater!

Tour of homes

It's coming! The annual Holiday Tour of Homes, sponsored by the Mc- Cormick Garden Club, will be held, Sat., Dec. 9, 1 - 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the McCormick Chamber of Commerce, The McCray House, Our Place on Main, The MACK, and 7 Daffodils, all in Mc- Cormick. Tickets are $10 if purchased in advance and $12 at the door on the day of the tour.

Classic Re-Runs

Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes, and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for people with a medical emergency in Lincoln County. Donations are tax deductible.

Usher anniversary

Tabernacle Baptist Church invites everyone to its 79th usher anniversary to be held Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.

Evangelist Katherine Bennett Watford, associate minister of New Life Worship Center in Lexington, N.C., will be guest speaker.

Holiday sing along

The Lincoln County Middle/High School Choral Department will present the 4th Annual Holiday Sing Along on Mon., Dec. 4 at First Assembly of God beginning at 7 p.m. The high school and middle school choirs will join together in singing "Christmas...In About Three Minutes."

Members of the high school students will perform solos and duets and choir accompanist Peyson Moss will play a medley of favorite holiday tunes as well.

Please come and join the choirs in singing many of the well known holiday songs. There is no admission charge for this event.

Flu vaccines

The Lincoln County Health Department is expecting an arrival of flu vaccine Nov. 27. The public is advised to call the health dept. at 706-359- 3154 to confirm availability.

Christmas Child

Morningside Baptist Church will be a drop off point for Operation Christmas Child which uses the power of a simple gift to share a sense of hope with suffering children.

Everyone is asked to fill one or more shoe boxes with gifts and drop them off at Morningside the week of Nov. 13 - 20. LCMS pageant

The Lincoln County Middle School Pageant will be held Thurs., Nov. 30. Deadline to enter is Nov. 21 with an entry fee of $35. Late entries may be made no later than 3 p.m. on Mon., Nov. 27 with a $45 fee. Entry forms have been given to every girl in the middle school, if you need another one, you may pick it up at the LCMS office.

Fund set up for Myers

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to help Ray Myers with medical expenses. Ray has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has a long and expensive road ahead of him. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Free legal help

Georgia Legal Services Program

GLSP) staff will be in Lincoln County to meet with senior citizens wanting free legal, non-criminal, help on a first-come, first-serve basis at The Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Ave., on Wed., Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Christmas in Harlem

The City of Harlem will hold its 4th Annual Christmas in the Heart of Downtown Harlem on Sat., Dec. 9. The day will begin with breakfast with Santa, reservations must be made by Nov. 28 as seating is limited.

A craft show/demonstrations will be held from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. If you would like to set up a craft booth or to reserve your spot for breakfast, please contact Kathy Ham at 706-556-0401.
