TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

All donations are welcome, we will pick up. Your donations are appreciated. Hours of operation are: Thurs., 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-7838 or 706-359-7345.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Fall concert

The Lincoln County Middle School and High School choral departments will present their fall concert Sat., Nov. 18 at Lincolnton Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m.

Featured music for this concert are folk songs from around the world. Tickets are being sold by any middle school or high school choir student for $5.00 or in the middle school office from Mrs. Hardeman. There will be no ticket sales at the door the evening of the concert.

Toy Run Dec. 9

Lincoln Iron Horse will hold its annual Toy Run on Saturday, December 9 beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Everyone will meet at the American Legion Post 194, a short ride will leave the Post at 10:30 and travel to the DFACS office.

Unwrapped toy donations may be dropped off at the Post between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. A truck and trailer will be there for larger toys.

Toys will benefit the Lincoln County Department of Family and Children Services. Please help make this a special Christmas for the needy children.

Church anniversary

Ebenezer Baptist Church will celebrate its 130th church anniversary on Sun., Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. Rev. Nathaniel Irvin and Old Storm Branch Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. The public is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Auxiliary to meet

The American Legion Auxiliary will have their monthly meeting Nov. 9, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. Items for the food pantry for November are package stuffing mix, rice and cranberry sauce. All members need to attend this meeting.

Plate sale benefit

A barbecue plate sale to benefit Larry Beggs and his family will be held Sat., Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Plates may be picked up at Paradise BBQ or Lincolnton City Fire Department. Tickets will be sold in advance and cost $6 each. Please call Billy Jo Paradise at 706-359-6157.

SOAR at park

Representatives from SOAR (Save Our American Raptors) will bring a variety of live raptors for a fascinating program on protecting and rehabilitating birds of prey at Elijah Clark State Park Group Shelter #1 on Sat., Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. Cost is $3 park pass.

Little League meeting

Lincoln County Little League Association will meet on Mon., Nov. 20 at the Dova Partridge Annex at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in volunteering to help with umpiring, coaching, rules and regulations, or would just like to serve on the board, please call Andy Wengrow at 706-401-9597 or 359- 1453.

Benefit car wash

A benefit car wash will be held for Angela Elam on Sat., Nov. 11 at Dr. Robert William's office. Tickets will be sold but drive-in's are welcome. The lucky ticket will receive a free detail. Call 706-359-1631 or 359- 2075 for more information.

Fun Feast

St. Paul United Methodist Church invites the public to its Fun Feast on Sat., Nov. 11 at 6 p.m.

The evening will begin with a hotdog supper and then fun for the whole family with games.

St. Paul's is located five miles out of town on the Thomson Hwy. Please call 706-359-1202 or 359-4925 in order to make sure enough food and fun is available.

Classic Re-Runs

Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes, and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for people with a medical emergency in Lincoln County. Donations are tax deductible.

Classic Re-Runs is located at 108 Main Street, next door to China One. Stop by to check out their half-price sales and specials that change weekly.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 16 at the Lincoln County Library.

The guest speaker will be Chairman, Walker T. Norman. Come and be a part of the concerned citizens of Lincoln County.

Food Pantry hours

The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be open during its regular hours of 9 a.m. until 12 noon on November 20. Due to Thanksgiving falling on November 23, the pantry will be closed.

Singing at Purvis

A gospel singing featuring the Adoration Quartet and fish fry will be held at Purvis School House on Sat., Nov. 18 from 5 - 7 p.m. Plates cost $7.50. You may dine in or take out. The singing begins at 7 p.m.

Help with heat

The Energy Assistance Program began taking applications Wed., Nov. 1 for homebound and elderly 65 years and older households to pay their home heating costs. If funds are available, it will be opened to the general public Fri., Dec. 1.

Applications for Lincoln County will be taken at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Nov. 8 and 9 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. only. If you cannot make these dates, you must apply at one of their local locations. For more information, please call 1-866-722-4346.

SALS to meet

The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 194 will have their monthly meeting Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. SAL commander Paul Rentz asks all members to be present.

Dinners for sale

The Pleasant Grove CME Laymen will be selling fish dinners on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the home of Doris Blackwell, 2046 Augusta Highway beginning at 10 a.m.

Ladies Bible study

Lincolnton Baptist Church will host a ladies Bible study entitled, "Lord, I Want to Know You" by Kay Arthur. The Study will be held in the conference room on Tuesdays from 7 - 9 p.m. or Thursdays from 9 - 11 a.m.

This is a 16 week study and although it has already begun, it's not too late to join in. The cost is $15 per book.

NAACP/TIA to meet

NAACP/TIA will be held at 7:30 p.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church on November 13. Everyone is invited.

Choir anniversary

Faith Tabernacle Church Choir will be celebrating its fourth choir anniversary on Sunday, November 12 at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The public is invited to attend.

Womens program

Tabernacle Womens Ministry invites the public to its annual Womens Ministry Program at 2 p.m., November 19 at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Minister Cathy Jones and Freedom Church will be in charge of this special occasion.

Committee meeting

The Lincoln County Democratic Committee will meet at the Lincoln County Library Annex on Sat., Oct. 28 at 8 a.m. Agenda items GOTV, November election and committee officers.

Musical concert

Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Mass Choir will host a musical concert on Sat., Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. The choir is under the leadership of Mr. Gary L. Norman. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

LCMS pageant

The Lincoln County Middle School Pageant will be held Thurs., Nov. 30. Deadline to enter is Nov. 21 with an entry fee of $35. Late entries may be made no later than 3 p.m. on Mon., Nov. 27 with a $45 fee. Entry forms have been given to every girl in the middle school, if you need another one, you may pick it up at the LCMS of hope with suffering children.

Vendors wanted

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will host their 9th Annual Holidays In Olde Lincoln Towne Festival and Holiday Parade on Sat., Dec. 2, 2006 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. downtown Lincolnton with the holiday parade beginning at 3 p.m.

Fund set up for Myers

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to help Ray Myers with medical expenses. Ray has recently been diagnosed with cancer and has a long and expensive road ahead of him. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Zoning meetings

The Lincoln County Planning & Zoning Board meetings for 2006 are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on the following dates in the Commis-sioner's Conference Room on the first floor of the Lincoln County Courthouse: Mon., Nov. 6; and Mon., Dec. 4.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on Nov. 14 and Nov. 28.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department for more information.

Benefit meeting
