Sheriff instructs LCES Pre-K students on Halloween safety
Sheriff Gerald Lawson instructs LCES Pre-K students on Halloween safety. Sheriff Gerald Lawson visited the Lincoln County Elementary School on October 27 and spoke with the Pre- K students about their safety during Halloween being conducted October 31.
The students under the supervision of the Pre-K teachers, Mildred Wright, Mary Lehocky and Sonya Moon, Resource Coordinator Mollie Wagoner and parapros, Eva Clary, Kathy Moore and Betty Reviera were very attentive and participated in learning rules to follow while they go trick or treating this Halloween season.
Sheriff Lawson made the students Junior Special Deputies during this event and gave each student a stick on badge to wear during halloween. He spoke on safety tips which included carrying a flashlight, walk don't run, stay on sidewalks, obey traffic signals, stay in familiar neighborhoods, don't cut across yards or driveways, make sure costumes do not drag on the ground, wear shoes that fit, be careful with masks they wear, walk on the left side of the road facing traffic, wear clothing with reflective markings or tape, approach houses that are lit, stay away and don't pet animals you don't know, try to always stay in a group or with parents.
Sheriff Lawson stated that he enjoyed speaking with the Pre-K class which were very attentive and participated during the talk. These young people are our most precious resources and the sheriff's office will do everything to protect our children while they have fun during Halloween. I want to thank the elementary school for allowing me to come over and participate in this Halloween safety brief.
