Lincoln County Family Connection Youth will be sponsoring "Hands on Lincolnton Week" Monday, October 2, through Saturday, October 7.

The purpose of Hands on Lincolnton is to unite and enable caring people to help those who are in need and to improve the community through volunteer service and giving.

During the week, Family Connection will be holding a food drive to benefit the Lincoln County Food Pantry which serves from 175 to 300 households per month. Donations from the community are the agency's only source of funding.

Food and/or tax deductible donations may be dropped at the Family Connection office, located at 115 Main Street next to the Jeweler's Bench, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. October 2-6 or at Bell's Food Market from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. October 7.

At the present time, the food pantry is in need of the following items: canned salmon, canned tuna, Vienna sausage, flour, meal, grits, stuffing mix, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, sugar, cereal, and saltine crackers. In essence, the food pantry could use all non-perishable foodstuffs.

Hands on Lincolnton is an affiliate of "Hands on Georgia," a statewide network that supports innovative volunteer approaches to meeting Georgia's critical needs through service and civic engagement.

Lincoln County is one of 118 counties taking part in Hands on Georgia.
