Ensuring your safety

TO THE EDITOR

I would like for the residents of Lincoln County to understand and appreciate the quality of law enforcement they enjoy.

This last week I had an appointment with a senior citizen of Lincolnton to review her Medicare benefit choices and help her select any appropriate options. I came with a co-worker. We are both professionals licensed by the State of Georgia. As we entered the driveway, we were followed by Investigator Hancock and Chief Deputy Remsen.

They were courteous and professional as they verified our identification and investigated our purpose for being there. It seems they had received a tip that someone was in the county perpetrating a scam on elder citizens. I invited Investigator Hancock to sit in on the interview, which he did. When we finished our business, everyone was on polite and friendly terms.

While some people would complain about being questioned, I am grateful that your county sheriff's office cares enough about your senior citizens to take the time to protect them. The fact that they can take the time to do it speaks volumes for the quality of crime prevention operating in Lincoln County.

I am also appreciative of the fact they protect professionals like us who are committed to the care of seniors by checking out and verifying the credentials of people operating in your county. If you should be stopped by a deputy for checking your license or something else, thank the officer for ensuring your safety.
