TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

ACS offers RtoR prog.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Classic Re-Runs

Classic Re-Runs is a non profit clothes shop specializing in good quality, lightly worn clothes for all sizes. They also have household items, dishes, and what-knots. All money is used exclusively for people with a medical emergency in Lincoln County. Donations are tax deductible.

Classic Re-Runs is located at 108 Main Street, next door to China One. Stop by to check out their half-price sales and specials that change weekly.

Tax Assessors meetings

The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors regular meetings for 2006 will be: Sept. 19; Oct. 17; Nov. 21; and Dec. 19.

The meetings will start at 4 p.m. in the Lincoln County Courtroom.

Safe walking class

The Lincolnton Police Department will hold a safe walking class on Thurs., Aug. 31 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library.

Reserved football seats

Reserved seats for the 2006 Red Devil football season will be on sale at the high school office beginning Mon., Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. 3 p.m.

If you have purchased season tickets in the past your seats will be held until Wed., Aug. 30 at which time they will be released to those on the waiting list.

Please notify the school if you do not wish to purchase your seats. The cost is $40 for the season.

The ladies of Lincolnton Baptist Church invites everyone to "A Day of Refreshing" on Sat., Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. 1 p.m.

The Lincoln County High School

Class of 96 reunion

Class of 1996 will hold its 10-year class reunion Oct. 13-14, 2006. There will be a meet-and-greet Friday night, Oct. 13, at Savannah Lakes Resort and Marina in McCormick, S.C.

On Saturday evening, there will be a reception at the 1810 Country Inn and Winery in Thomson, Ga. The reception will include a short program, a full dinner, and dancing. A cash bar will be available. Cost for the entire weekend will be $50 for class members and $25 for additional guests.

Labor Day Fair

Taliaferro County's 20th Annual Arts & Crafts Labor Day Fair will be held Mon., Sept. 4 from 9 a.m. 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The fair will be held in town, located two miles off I-20 at exit 148.

Along with arts and craft booths, there will be inflatable fun for the children, exhibits of memorabilia from the ten movies made in and around Crawfordville and a parade which will begin at 2 p.m.

Artifacts wanted

Speakers available

LifeLink of Georgia, the local agency that coordinates organ and tissue donations for the state, has speakers available for civic groups, churches, schools, corporations, etc.

Presenters will dispel myths associated with donation, share information about who can be a potential donor, and explain the donation process. Our trained speakers have been personally touched by donation and will leave your group educated, uplifted and inspired with their stories of courage and hope. Presentations will be tailored to the specific audience.

Parade slated for Dec. 2

The 9th Annual Holidays In Olde Lincoln Towne Festival and Holiday Parade is scheduled for Sat., Dec. 2, 2006 12 noon 6 p.m., with the Holiday Parade at 3 p.m. There will be a planning meeting for this event at the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce office on Thurs., Aug. 31, 7 p.m. Anyone interested in serving on this committee is invited to attend.

Ladies Bible study

First Assembly of God will begin a ladies bible study on Thurs., Aug. 31 at 9:30 a.m.. The study will be the newest Beth Moore study entitled "Daniel, Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy." The Golden Harvest Food Bank's Manna Truck will be at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sat., Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. with free produce.
