Reese family singing to be held at First Assembly Aug. 26

REESE FAMILY REESE FAMILY The family of Ross and Eunice Reese will host the 4th Reese Family Singing on Saturday, August 26, 7:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God on Thomson Highway in Lincolnton.

The Reese family has long been known for its talented singers and musicians and is one of the largest families in Lincolnton. The choir, soloists, various vocal ensembles and instrumentalists will be comprised from the 150 family members.

The musical presentation stems from a strong legacy of spreading God's love. Ross and Eunice Reese married in 1931, became Christians in 1949 and were devoted members of Martin's Crossroads Church. They raised their 14 children in a home that was centered around God.

Affectionately known as "Big Daddy and Big Mama," the couple celebrated 67 years of marriage. Mr. Reese died in 1999 at the age of 92. Mrs. Reese passed away shortly after in 200 at the age of 87. They both were exceptional examples of what it means to be a Christian.

Big Daddy always energetically expressed his love for Jesus and he anxiously shared it with those he met. Big Mama on the other hand, was quiet and more reserved, but her gentleness as a Christian conversed equally as powerful and inspired all that knew her.

A legacy of spreading God's love has been continued through the five generations of Reeses. It was a common goal between the couple to instill in their children the importance of continuing to tell others of what God's love has done and can do. This year's singing is the fourth conducted and the family has also produced and published two cook books in honor of their Christian values.

The fourteen children are Russell Reese, the late Jerry Reese, Dotsy R. Edmunds, Marietta R. Stone, Myra R. Griffith, Emily R. Leckie, Doug Reese, Eugenia L. Enlow, the late Rev. L.M. Reese, Barbara R. LeRoy, Jack Reese, Carol R. Cox, Eddie Reese and Shearell R. Scott.

The family would like to invite everyone in the community to join in a evening of music, fellowship and inspiration.

There is no admission charge.
