Summer session of Kids R.E.N.E.W. Club ends
The summer session of the Kids R.E.N.E.W. Club, sponsored by Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, ended August 4. The Kids R.E.N.E.W. (Review-Eagerly-NewEfforts-Willingly) Club was an exciting eleven-day academic summer program for eligible elementary and middle school students.
The program emphasized math, reading and writing skills to promote academic success during the upcoming school year. Kids R.E.N.E.W. gave the kids a chance to learn through hands on activities as well as accelerating learning.
The daily schedule consisted of the kids beginning each day with a 30minute reading exercise where they read and presented a book talk of what they had read. They would then write journal entries of the topic for the day. Next, they would transition to their classes and alternate math and reading skills. Snacks, a nature walk and a learning video would end the day.
The Kids R.E.N.E.W. staff would like to thank all the boys and girls who participated in the success of the program. Students who participated were Riccardo Smith, Brandtlyn Harris, Ciera Norman, Avis Carter, Jason Gartrell, Tydarius Harris, Natasia Harris, Jamaul Hawes, Jonathan Partlow, Dekelia Harris, Aaron Smith, Alia Hawes, Andreas Hawes, Alysia Gartrell, Jalen Franklin, Christopher Chinn, Christopher Mariney and Rozina Harris.
