Sandra B. Haynes
Mrs. Sandra Burton Haynes, 63, of Blairsville, Georgia, entered into rest Tuesday, August 8, 2006 from injuries she sustained in an automobile accident while returning from a day of hiking.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, at First Baptist Church of Blairsville with Revs. Fred Lodge, Jim Martin and Danny Parris officiating. Entombment followed in Laurel Hills Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Haynes was born Monday, November 30, 1942, in Washington, Georgia to the late Thomas "T.C." Burton and Frances Edmunds Burton. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville and the Mountain High Hikers. She attended LaGrange College and graduated
from Massey Business College, she was employed by several school systems during her career, the last being Dekalb County and in retirement she was an avid hiker and also enjoyed experimenting with gourmet cooking.
She was preceded in death by her son David Jeffery Haynes.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, David Haynes of Blairsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Gaye and Pete Poisson of Cumming, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Catherine, Elizabeth and David.
Serving as pallbearers were Ben Bradley, Doug Davenport, Harold Dyer, Dick Howington, George Radcliffe and Fred Woodward.
Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
