Lobby at jail no longer open around the clock
Due to the re-location of the dispatching staff to the new 911 center on School Street, the Lincoln County Law Enforcement Center is no longer able to provide bonding and other services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"With the dispatchers leaving, we don't have the personnel available to maintain the lobby area," said Sheriff Gerald Lawson. "Effective immediately, people can only be bonded out during regular business hours - from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Moreover, those who need to contact the law enforcement center at night will have to call 911.
"We regret any inconvenience this will cause the public," the sheriff continued. "We simply do not have the resources necessary to keep the law enforcement center open 24 hours a day."
In other items of information, Sheriff Lawson reported the following arrests made recently by his staff:
James Hogan, 40, of Lincolnton, charged with theft by conversion.
