Carol A. Hansen
Mrs. Carol Alberta Rees Hansen, 77, the beloved wife of the late Richard R. Hansen, of Savannah Lakes Village, entered into rest at her residence on Thursday, July 20, 2006 after a brief illness.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 24 at McCormick United Methodist Church with Revs. Jerry James and Bobbie Taylor officiating.
Mrs. Hansen was the daughter of the late D. Lester and the late Bernice Smith Rees. She was born in Fillmore, N.Y. on January 6, 1929 and grew up there on the family farm. She attended the State University of New York at Brockport and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education in 1950. She taught second and fourth grades at Charlotte Avenue Elementary School in Hamburg, N.Y. and retired from the Hamburg Central School District.
Mr. and Mrs. Hansen were lifelong residents of New York state before moving to Savannah Lakes Village in 1994. Mrs. Hansen became an active member of McCormick United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She was also a member and past regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the Savannah Lakes Village Women's
Golf Association. The family said she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include two daughters, Dianna Tice and husband, Daniel of McCormick, S.C. and Carol Tummons and husband, Donald, of Plantation, Fla.; two sons, Richard Hansen and wife, Victoria of Austin, Tx. and Thomas Hansen of Spring Lake, N.J.; two sisters, Marian McCarty of Hendersonville, N.C. and Josephine Hopkins of Houghton, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, Megan Flynn and husband, Stephen, Jennifer Doldo and husband, Todd, Daniel Tice and wife, Courtney, Michael Hansen, Stephen Hansen, Joselyn Tummons, Christopher Tummons, Caitlin Hansen and Lauren Hansen; five great-grandchildren, Cole Doldo, Jade Doldo, Sofie Flynn, Reese Flynn and Drake Hensen.
