The next ACT test will be administered September 16, 2006. Collegebound high school students who wish to take the exam must register by August 18 the deadline for having the registration postmarked. The late registration deadline postmark is August 25 with an extra fee charged for late registration.

Students may register online at www.actstudents.org or registration forms may be picked up the high school guidance counseling office.

The cost is $29 for the traditional ACT and $43 for students who choose to take the optional ACT Writing Test. Some colleges require a writing score but many don't, so students should find out the requirements of prospective colleges before registering for the exam. ACT scores are accepted by virtually all U.S. colleges and universities including all Ivy League schools.
