The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

All donations are welcome, we will pick up. Your donations are appreciated. Hours of operation are: Thurs., 9 a.m. 3 p.m.; Sat., 9 a.m. 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-7838 or 706-359-7345.

For the month of April, all items are .50 each except for coats, boots and furniture.

TIA Helping Hand

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

Rehoboth Baptist Church will celebrate its 200th anniversary beginning Sat., July 29 at 7 p.m. as the group "Reign Song" will lead in worship. A love offering will be taken.

Homecoming will be held August 6 at 10:30 a.m. There will be fellowship, singing and preaching as some of the previous pastors are planning to attend and lead in this special time. Rev. Donnie Walton will bring the message. Afterwards, we will have some famous Wheatley BBQ and other good eats.

The Church of Christ in Lincolnton invites you and your family to its Fall Gospel Meeting Aug. 13-16, with Danny Blevins of Newark, Arkansas.

On Sun., Aug. 13 the schedule will be: 10 a.m. bible class, 11:00 a.m. - undenominational Christianity, 7 p.m. - blessed assurance! A potluck lunch will follow morning services.

Mon., Aug. 14: 7 p.m. - unity. An ice cream supper will follow.

Tues., Aug. 15: 7 p.m. - "What Are We Saved By?"

Wed., Aug. 16: 6 p.m. a pizza supper, 7 p.m. - "Why Obey God Now?"

Fall revival

The American Legion Family Post 194 will be having an indoor yard sale on Aug. 26 from 7:30 a.m. until.

A variety of items from the legion will be for sale along with items donated by members. There are also tables available to the public.

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department Aug. 8 and Sept. 26.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department for more information.

Harmony Baptist Church, Lincolnton, will have Homecoming Service Sun., Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. Rev. Frederick D. Favor of Springfield Baptist Church in Thomson will bring the message.

The Golden Harvest Food Bank's Manna Truck will be at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sat., Aug. 5 from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. with free produce.

The Miss Lincoln County High School Pageant will be held Tues., Aug. 29, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Registration forms can be picked up during open house Aug. 3, in the high school office starting Aug. 7 or from Mrs. Dukes. Entry fee is $40 due by Aug. 18; $50 late registration fee due by Aug. 23. Practices will be after school Aug. 24 and Aug. 26. This year's pageant is sponsored by FBLA.

Tables may be rented for $15 and can be reserved by calling the legion at 706-359-3445 on Mon. Fri., 4 9 p.m. Refreshments will be available through out the day. Make plans to shop or sell in the comfort of air-conditioning and support your veterans.

The LCHS Varsity Cheerleaders will be selling Krispy Kreme Donuts on Sat., Aug. 5. Look for them around town. Please buy a box and support our Cheer Devils.

Miss LCHS Pageant

Donnie Sumner, a regular on the Gaither Homecoming videos, will be in concert at St. Paul's Methodist Church on Sun., Aug. 6 at 6 p.m.

Donnie is the nephew of J. D. Sumner and was a backup singer with Elvis Pressley for a number of years. He has a wonderful testimony and many interesting things to share as well as being a dynamic gospel singer. Don't miss this great event! The public is invited.

Reserved seats for the 2006 Red Devil football season will be on sale at the high school office beginning Mon., Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. 3 p.m.

If you have purchased season tickets in the past your seats will be held until Wed., Aug. 30 at which time they will be released to those on the waiting list.

Please notify the school if you do not wish to purchase your seats. The cost is $40 for the season.

Elijah Clark State Park will offer several programs this summer to give families economical outings for the whole family.

Living History: Spinning and Weaving Demonstration will be presented Aug. 12 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Log Cabin Museum.

Living History: Mountain Dulcimers will be presented Aug. 19 from 2 4 p.m. at the Log Cabin Museum.

Creative Camp Cooking demonstration will be held on Aug. 19, 6 p.m. at the assembly shelter. In this hands-on demonstration you will learn to bake biscuits in a cardboard box, make an omelet in a bag, fry hamburgers on a rock, bake fish in a newspaper and much more.

From July 17 July 28 at 7:30 8:30 a.m. each week, Mon. Fri., a child 18 years old and under can receive a free breakfast in the high school cafeteria.

The Lincoln County High School Weight Room will be closed to the public due to liability problems effective immediately. The only exception will be with the presence of a coach.

All Medicare recipients should now be aware that if they suffer from conditions such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disorders, and have difficulty walking or propelling a standard wheelchair, they may be eligible to receive an electric wheelchair paid for by Medicare.

The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors regular meetings for 2006 will be: Jan. 17; Feb. 21; March 21; April 18; May 16; June 20; July 18; Aug. 15; Sept. 19; Oct. 17; Nov. 21; and Dec. 19.

The meetings will start at 4 p.m. in the Lincoln County Courtroom.

Tax Assessors meetings

The Augusta VA Medical Center invites all employees, VA retirees, volunteers and their families to share in a day of fun, food and activities at the first VA Family/Homecoming Day Aug. 5.
