Deacon Robert Davis

Deacon Robert Davis, 82, of Lincolnton, passed away Tuesday, May 2 at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 6, at Parks Grove Fire Baptize Holiness Church with pastor Tonita Cody officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Davis was a native of Clarke County, Georgia and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bud (Mattie) Davis. He was employed at Federal Paper Board for over 20 years and retired in 1989. He was a member of Parks Grove FBH Church and held several positions, such as Chairman of the Trustee Board, church treasurer, Chairman of the Deacons Board and assistant to the pastor.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Robbie Mae Leverett and Ida Lee Gartrell; a sister, Lila Mae Wilson, and a brother, Lloyd E. Davis.

Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Sarah Elam Davis of Lincolnton; five daughters, Leila Mae Parks (Kenneth Harris), Mozell Holloway, Idel Davis (JR Beard), Mattie (Albert) Ware and Sara E. Davis (Larry Tennant), all of Lincolnton; three sons, Willie Jones, Alex Rogers (Keisha) Davis and Bill (Geraldine) Davis, all of Lincolnton; a sister, Mozell Scott of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Della Elam of Newark, NJ and Essie Mae Elam of Lincolnton; a special granddaughter, Valerie Gartrell of Lincolnton; thirty grandchildren; thirty-three greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers were grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Parks Grove FBH Church deacons, trustee board and mother board.
