Mitchell Flanigan

Mr. Mitchell Flanigan, husband of Ann Chafin Flanigan of Washington Highway in Lincolnton entered into rest on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at his residence. He was 71.

Graveside services were held, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, at Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Paul C. Reviere officiating.

Mr. Flanigan, a lifelong resident of Lincolnton, was the son of the late Walter Otto and Anna Goldman Flanigan. He was retired from the City of Lincolnton after 18 years as superintendent of the Waste Water Department. Prior to his employment with the City of Lincolnton, he had worked for Green's Fuel Gas Company in Lincolnton. He had served as the City of Lincolnton Fire Chief for ten years and in the U.S. Army National Guard.

He was a member of Lincolnton Baptist Church and the American Legion #194.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. "Bobby" Flanigan.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ann Chafin Flanigan; a daughter, Melinda F. Cartledge and husband, Jeff, of Hartwell, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Laura and Kristen Cartledge.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, Ga. 30904.

Pallbearers were Richard Bentley, Stanley Parton, Buddy Marlow, Lee Moss, Kyle Reese, Rick Chafin, and Bob Cunningham.

Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton, was in charge of arrangements.
