The first round of the state baseball playoffs is set to begin Friday, May 12, at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex.

At 3 p.m., Lincoln County, ranked second in Region 7-A, will face Athens Academy in a doubleheader. In the event a third playoff game is necessary, it will be held at 3 p.m. the next day.

Although Athens Academy is ranked third in Region 8-A, the school was actually part of a threeway tie for first. It was bumped to third place after losing the tie-breaking games.

Admission to the playoffs is $7 at the gate. Students may purchase tickets in advance for $5.
