Bluegrass legend Earl Scruggs, 82, was in town to watch Lizzie Long of Lincolnton and Nashville perform at the 19th Annual Lewis Family Homecoming & Bluegrass Festival held May 4-6 at Elijah Clark State Park. Scruggs is probably best known for performing the theme song for television's "The Beverly Hillbillies" and composing the bluegrass classic "Foggy Mountain Breakdown."
