CTAE students recognized at reception held April 25

FCCLA Scholarship: Ghangela Jones and Jaeda Bennett FCCLA Scholarship: Ghangela Jones and Jaeda Bennett The fifth annual Career, Technical and Agriculture Education reception to honor student achievement and to acknowledge and recognize employers was held April 25 at 7:30 in the high school lunchroom.

Mrs. Joann Collins, Career, Technical and Agriculture Supervisor, welcomed guests and participants and gave an overview of the Career, Technical and Agriculture Education programs at LCHS.

The Career, Technical and Agriculture Education Department at LCHS consists of Joann Collins Business and Information Technology and Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator; Janet Dukes Business and Information Technology; Marion Aycock Automotive Service Technology; Mark Flowers Technology; Cherrie Campbell Family and Consumer Science; and Dennis Gay. These teachers provide over 140 years of teaching experience for the students of LCHS.

The evening began when Whitley Arrowood, a member of FCCLA, recognized and introduced members of the LCHS CTA Advisory Council. The council meets at least twice a year to provide guidance and assistance in developing guidelines for career and technical courses at LCHS. Mr. Henry Madden, LCHS assistant principal, presented certificates of appreciation and achievement to the honored students. Emily Diamond, Business Procedure Emily Diamond, Business Procedure Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Randall Edmunds, closed the program with remarks and praise for those students who were honored for their achievements and thanks for the employers who furnish job site and training for the students. A reception, hosted by the Career, Technical and Agriculture Department, and attended by the guests followed the program.
