LCMS choruses to present musical 'Dear Edwina, Jr.'
The LCMS Choral Department is set to present two performances of the musical "Dear Edwina, Jr." in the school auditorium.
On Friday, May 5, the SeventhGrade Choir will take the stage, with the Eighth-Grade Choir performing the musical on Saturday, May 6. Curtain time is 7 p.m. each evening.
Written by Zina Goldrich, the show features a "Dear Abby-type" lead character which will be played by seventh-grader Meg Ball on Friday and eighth-grader Kerri Seymour on Saturday. Connor Hamm, a seventhgrader, is cast in the role of Scott for both performances.
In essence, the musical deals with the perils of being a young person and the issues they face such as moving away, the bratty younger brother, saving money, bad manners, and puppy love.
Some of the song titles from the show are "Frankenguest," "Put it in the Piggy," "Say 'No Thank You'," and a chorus from the little known opera "Ode to Oneida" titled "Fork, Knife, Spoon."
The production is under the direction of Carolee Hobbins, choral music teacher at LCMS/LCHS.
Admission to "Dear Edwina, Jr." is $5. LCMS Gold Cards will be honored.
