It was a beautiful spring afternoon around 5:30 p.m. on April 1, 2006, when the Class of 1955 gathered in the lobby of the restaurant at Hickory Knob State Park, McCormick, S.C., to celebrate their fiftieth year reunion. For many reasons, it was impossible to schedule in 2005, and thought it appropriate to be scheduled on April Fools Day just for the sake of it (of course, we know this is our fifty-first year.)

Classmates attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Adams (Jackie Banks) of Washington, Ga.; Mrs. Louise Bentley Holloway of McCormick, S.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Reubin Loper (Carolyn Bohler) of Augusta, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Olin Reed (Beth Drinkard) of Lincolnton; Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Marlow (LaVina Glaze) of Lincolnton; Mr. Thomas Goolsby of Crawfordville, Ga.; Mr. Wade Ivey of Merritt, Fla.; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Reese (Carol Martin) of Lincolnton; Mr. and Mrs. John Ivey (Shirley Martin) of Augusta, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Allen McCurry of Gainesville, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Norman of Washington, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Partridge of Dearing, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Grady Reed of Lincolnton; Mr. and Mrs. Brady Link (Carolyn Stevenson) of Cayce, S.C.; Mrs. Charlotte Walker Poss of Lincolnton, and Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Hall (Shelby Jean Walker) of Greenwood, S.C.

Teachers attending were: Mrs. Colleen (Miss Cox) Dunaway and Mr. and Mrs. Carl (Miss Suzie) Ivey of Lincolnton.

Special guests attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Tony Dallis (Elizabeth Kling-Mueller) of Leesville, S.C. and Mr. John Crawford of Lincolnton.

Hospitality hostesses were Shirley Martin Ivey and Carol Martin Reese. This was a special time of greeting because it had been five years since the last reunion. Around 6:30 p.m. everyone gathered in the Bordeaux Room. A cordial welcome and recognition of guests was given by LaVina Glaze Marlow. A special time was observed for remembering classmates who are deceased. In the quietness, each name was called: Alton Banks, Carl Banks, W. L. Crook, Gay Maner Bradford, Nina Massey Crawford, Grace Mathews Goldman and Thelma Mathews Schlock.

The class sang "Happy Birthday" to "Miss Suzie" and presented her with a bunch of beautiful red roses for it was her 90th birthday.

A scripture, Psalm 24, was read by Jackie Banks Adams. Brady Link graciously offered a prayer of invocation and blessings for the class and the dinner. A very informal agenda followed the delicious meal and generous service. Everyone, who desired, was invited to speak to the class. Gerald Norman led the way and others followed. It was full of fun and laughter. Carolyn Bohler Loper presented everyone a bookmark as a token of remembrance of a delightful fiftieth year reunion. After taking pictures, farewells were spoken until we meet again and may God bless!
