Mary Elizabeth Chavous Wells

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Chavous Wells, 81, of Moss Street, entered into rest on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Fla.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Butts officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Wells, a native of Augusta, had lived in Lincolnton since the late 1960's. She was a retired post exchange clerk at Ft. Gordon, a member of New Hope Baptist Church and Homer Legg Chapter #535 Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian C. (Bo) Wells.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith Pugh of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, George Chavous of Arlington, Texas and Billy Chavous of Manchester, New Hampshire; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Homer Legg Chapter #535 Order of Eastern Star will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton, was in charge of arrangements.
