Historical society to host Evans ES at park April 28
All work and no play makes Jack and Jill dull, dull, dull. So the Lincoln County Historical Society including Jerry's Wednesday Morning Gang and Miss Flo's Meals on Wheels Ladies will forego the scheduled work day on Wednesday May third and take a trip toThe 1810 Winery and historic Hickory Hills Farms in Thomson.
The society will start the day as guests of the Watson Brown Foundation and enjoy a docent guided tour of the Hickory Hills Farms grounds and mansion. The afternoon will start with a dutch lunch at noon, then a tour of the 1810 winery. This will be a fun spring afternoon . Everyone is invited to meet at The May House at 9 am to carpool over together. To make reservations at the 1810 Winery for lunch call Flo Pursley at 706 3594697 before noon Monday May first. Please note that the picnic is changed to a dutch lunch.
On Friday April 28th, the society will host the Evans Elementary School at The Park. Members are asked to man their stations to give the children a taste of what life was like years ago. The children are always so eager and giving them a hands on history lesson is so satisfying. The fun starts at 9 am.
On Saturday May 6th from 9 am until 10:30 The Historical Society will host the annual Lewis Family Remembrances at the Lewis Family Pavilion. Little Roy and company will be on hand to pick a little, laugh a lot and sign autographs. Memorabilia from the last fifty years will be on hand for fans to enjoy. This event coincides with the bluegrass festival at Elijah Clarke State Park. The Historical Park will be open for visitors.
All members are asked to send an email to history@nu-z.net to get updates on all society activities.
