The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors regular meetings for 2006 will be: Jan. 17; Feb. 21; March 21; April 18; May 16; June 20; July 18; Aug. 15; Sept. 19; Oct. 17; Nov. 21; and Dec. 19.
The meetings will start at 4 p.m. in the Lincoln County Courtroom.

All Medicare recipients should now be aware that if they suffer from conditions such as arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory disorders, and have difficulty walking or propelling a standard wheelchair, they may be eligible to receive an electric wheelchair paid for by Medicare. A 4-Man Scramble Golf Tournament will be held Sat., May 13 at Rocky Branch Golf Course. The cost is $150 per team and the proceeds will benefit the Lincoln County Food Pantry and Ministerial Association.

Papa's Pizza to Go will feature a Relay for Life "In Memory" display with photos, names, dates and maybe even a poem, of your loved ones. You may leave your photo, along with information and/or a poem, at Papa's. The display will be up until the end of May at which time your pictures may be picked up.

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Little Mr. & Miss Pageant on Sat., June 3, 2006, 7 p.m. in the Lincoln County High School Auditorium. Applicants must be between the ages of 4-6, but not in the first grade and must be a full time resident of Lincoln County.

Pageant slated for June 3
The Historical Society will host the annual Lewis Family Remembrances at the Lewis Family Pavilion on Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m. until 10:30.
Little Roy and company will be on hand to pick a little, laugh a lot and sign autographs. Memorabilia from the last fifty years will be on hand for fans to enjoy.
This event coincides with the bluegrass festival at Elijah Clarke State Park. The Historical Park will be open for visitors.
Virginia Thompson's home burned down on Mon., April 10 and she and her daughter lost all of their belongings. Jennie Mae wears: pants 18 average; tops 1X; and shoes 6 1/2. Denise wears: pants 16; tops 1X; and shoes 9.

The American Cancer Society now offers its Road to Recovery program to cancer patients in Lincoln County who need transportation to and from their treatments, free of charge. Drivers are trained society volunteers who pick up patients at their homes, take them to their treatment and drive them back home.

High school seniors may apply for an honorarium sponsored by the Lincoln Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA).
The student must plan to attend a college or a vocational school for the academic year 2006-2007 and write a 250-500 word essay on the topic The Importance of Furthering My Education.
Please provide a cover page with your name, date, name of high school and the name of the college or vocational school you plan to attend.

The student must: be a senior in high school or be enrolled in college; submit two letters of referral one from a high school instructor and one from a non-family member (college student must submit a letter of referral from a professor); write a 200 300 word essay why this scholarship is needed or desired.

The Courthouse Crew Relay for Life will sponsor a Bike-A-Thon on Sat., April 29. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., the ride will be from 9 11 a.m. at 1121 American Legion Road for ages three through fifth grade.

Girl Scouts, Central Savannah River Council will once again host overnight and day camp opportunities for girls ages 5-17 at Camp Tanglewood in Columbia County. Week-long and mini programs will feature games, swimming, horseback riding, nature hikes, camp songs, arts & crafts, plus a variety of specialized programs including: equestrian programs, canoeing, adventure camps, swimming and archery.
