SGM William H. Wood SGM. William H. Wood, U.S. Army retired of Augusta Hwy., entered into rest on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at his residence. He was 76. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 8 at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta, Georgia with full military honors. Mr. Wood was a native of Cincinnati but had lived in Lincoln County since 1979. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, and later retired as a Sergeant Major after 28 years of service. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hart Wood; one son, John Hopkins of North Augusta, S.C.; two daughters, Sheryl Redman of Augusta and Teresa Bentley of Lincolnton; three sisters, Diane Bleh, Bonnie Wood and Beverly Morath, all of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Lee and Nicholas Redman, Ashley Barton, and Lacey and Tyler Bryant; and four great-grandchildren. Beggs Funeral Home, Lincolnton, was in charge of arrangements. |
