The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/50.

Lincoln County and the City of Lincolnton, in partnership with Keep America Beautiful, are asking residents, youth groups, church groups and clubs, to participate in the 2006 Keep Georgia Beautiful clean up drive to be held Sat., April 15 from 8 a.m. 12:30 p.m.

A 4-Man Scramble Golf Tournament will be held Sat., May 13 at Rocky Branch Golf Course. The cost is $150 per team and the proceeds will benefit the Lincoln County Food Pantry and Ministerial Association.

Lincoln County OES and students from LCHS will be taking part in Ghost Out 2006. The exercise will be about the dangers of under age drinking and driving during prom season.

Papa's Pizza to Go will feature a Relay for Life "In Memory" display with photos, names, dates and maybe even a poem, of your loved ones. You may leave your photo, along with information and/or a poem, at Papa's. The display will be up until the end of May at which time your pictures may be picked up.

Mulberry Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will host its fifth ecumenical and interracial Good Friday Service April 14 at 7 p.m. Clergy from the Lincolnton and Augusta areas will expound on the seven last words of Jesus.
Their religious week will culminate with the celebration of the resurrection of Christ on Sun., April 16 with Sunrise Services beginning at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served after the service. Sunday school will begin at 9:45 a.m. and morning worship will begin at 11 a.m. Good Friday service
The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association will meet at the Fitzpatrick Hotel, 16 West Square, Washington, Thurs., April 13 at 11 a.m. All members, retired educators, and anyone who plans to retire from the field of education are asked to be present.
Membership shall be granted, upon payment of dues, to any person who has retired or who plans to retire from the field of education. Coleman Kennedy is president.

A guaranteed $1,000 prize is up for grabs for the first place team that wins the Ninth Annual John de la Howe School Open Bass Tournament that is scheduled for Sat., April 15. Oozeoff will be at 6:30 a.m. The event will be held at Hawe Creek Landing on Lake Strom Thurmond at the Dorn Sports Fishing and Boating Facility in McCormick. Weigh-in begins at 3 p.m.

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the Little Mr. & Miss Pageant on Sat., June 3, 2006, 7 p.m. in the Lincoln County High School Auditorium. Applicants must be between the ages of 4-6, but not in the first grade and must be a full time resident of Lincoln County.

The Courthouse Crew Relay for Life will sponsor a Bike-A-Thon on Sat., April 29. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., the ride will be from 9 11 a.m. at 1121 American Legion Road for ages three through fifth grade.

The student must: be a senior in high school or be enrolled in college; submit two letters of referral one from a high school instructor and one from a non-family member (college student must submit a letter of referral from a professor); write a 200 300 word essay why this scholarship is needed or desired.

Girl Scouts, Central Savannah River Council will once again host overnight and day camp opportunities for girls ages 5-17 at Camp Tanglewood in Columbia County.
