FFA-FCCLA Center to host wildlife camp

The Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington (Newton County) will host a Basic Wildlife Camp June 2530 and July 9-14 and an Advanced Wildlife Camp July 16-21. During camp sessions, young boys and girls can safely learn shooting sports, fishing, canoeing, wildlife conservation and deer stand safety and construction. The focus of both camps is to increase safety, awareness and appreciation of wildlife and outdoor sports to young boys and girls.

Basic Wildlife Camp is an outdoor adventure camp held June 25-30 and July 9-14 for boys and girls ages 1015. The cost is $275 per camper, including lodging in cabins for five nights, 15 meals, all instruction, recreation, and a t-shirt. In addition to daily hands-on classes, students participate in recreational activities, such as swimming and miniature golf. The week of camp is centered on firearms and hunter safety. Upon completion of the week, students will receive Georgia Hunter Safety Certification and a Certificate of Completion. All firearms training is performed by Certified Georgia Hunter Education Instructors.

The Advanced Camp is July 1621 for boys and girls ages 11-16 who have already received their hunter safety certification. The cost is $275 per camper, including lodging in cabins for five nights, 15 meals, all instruction, recreation, and a t-shirt. During the Advanced Camp, students will shoot 3-D targets, learn outdoor survival skills, work on fishing techniques, learn ATV safety and much more. Other activities include wildlife instruction, deer stand construction and fishing. All programs are hands-on and will be adapted to the age of the students.
