A fire destroyed the home of Virginia Mae Thompson on Petersburg Place Monday, April 10. When firemen arrived on the scene at 4:10 p.m., the structure was fully engulfed in flames. The fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring in the kitchen, according to Paul Rentz, interim Lincoln County OES director. Responding to the call were Lincoln County OES, Martin's Crossroads VFD, Midway VFD, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, and Georgia Power.
