GBI investigates shooting death of Oxford resident

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office are currently conducting an investigation into the death of Steven James Moszczenski, 43, of Oxford, Georgia.

The victim's body was discovered in a wooded area off of Indian Road at approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, according to Gary Nicholson, special agent in charge of the Thomson Office of the GBI.

"The subject was reported missing by his wife, who is a resident of Columbia County," stated Nicholson.

Moszczenski was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:54 p.m. by Lincoln County Coroner Paul Reviere. The cause of death was listed as a single gunshot wound to the head.

His body was transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Augusta.
