A guaranteed $1,000 prize is up for grabs for the first place team that wins the Ninth Annual John de la Howe School Open Bass Tournament that is scheduled for Sat., April 15. Oozeoff will be at 6:30 a.m. The event will be held at Hawe Creek Landing on Lake Strom Thurmond at the Dorn Sports Fishing and Boating Facility in McCormick. Weigh-in begins at 3 p.m.

The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors regular meetings for 2006 will be: Jan. 17; Feb. 21; March 21; April 18; May 16; June 20; July 18; Aug. 15; Sept. 19; Oct. 17; Nov. 21; and Dec. 19.
The meetings will start at 4 p.m. in the Lincoln County Courtroom.

Lincoln County and the City of Lincolnton, in partnership with Keep America Beautiful, are asking residents, youth groups, church groups and clubs, to participate in the 2006 Keep Georgia Beautiful clean up drive to be held Sat., April 15 from 8 a.m. 12:30 p.m.

A 4-Man Scramble Golf Tournament will be held Sat., May 13 at Rocky Branch Golf Course. The cost is $150 per team and the proceeds will benefit the Lincoln County Food Pantry and Ministerial Association.

The Georgia High School Graduation Tests will be given the week of March 27 30 according to the following schedule:
Mon., March 27 language arts; Tues., March 28 math; Wed., March 29 social studies; Thurs., March 30 science; Fri., March 31 make-up testing.

Mulberry Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will host its fifth ecumenical and interracial Good Friday Service April 14 at 7 p.m. Clergy from the Lincolnton and Augusta areas will expound on the seven last words of Jesus.
Their religious week will culminate with the celebration of the resurrection of Christ on Sun., April 16 with Sunrise Services beginning at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served after the service. A Living History Program will be held at the Robert Toombs House April 1, 2006 from 11 a.m. 4:30 p.m.
Join living history participants as they portray General Bob (Robert) Toombs, his family and friends in 1863, as Toombs returns home having been wounded at the Battle of Antietum. In an attempt to "go on with life," a barbecue is prepared for tasting, along with games, lively conversation and period activities. The next nationwide test date for ACT Assessment is April 8, 2006. Registration postmark deadline is March 3. The cost is $29 without and $43 with, the writing test.
Students may receive registration forms from their high school guidance counselor or online at www.act student.org.
The ACT Assessment is an achievement test that includes four exams; English, reading, math and science. Students who take the optional writing test will add 30 minutes to the 3hour normal testing time. Most colleges and universities don't require a writing score, so students should check the writing test requirements of colleges they're considering before registering for the ACT.
