Banks and Goldman compete in cheerleading competitions
EMILY BANKS AND CARSON GOLDMAN It is most girls dream in Lincoln County to grow up and become a Lincoln County Red Devil cheerleader. However, Carson Goldman and Emily Banks could not hold off cheering for six more years before having the opportunity to tryout to be a Cheer Devil. They are currently members of the Junior All-Star team for Premier Mpact Panthers in Evans, Georgia and won a National Championship at their final competition of the season, the Ultimate Cheerleading Federation War of Stars, March 11-12.
The girls have been working hard since May on their routine which is two minutes and 15 seconds. Incorporated into the routine are tumbling, jumps, stunts, cheer and dance. It is packed full of energy and entertainment. The girls and their parents have traveled to several competitions including Cheersport SC State Championship, Columbia, S.C., Athletic Championship Nationals Chattanooga, Tenn., Jamfest Power Jam Nationals, Macon, Ga., Cheersport Nationals in Atlanta, and UCF War of the Stars in Columbia, S.C.
The Tennessee, Atlanta and UCF (Columbia) competitions were two day events where the team competed once each day and the percentage of the score from that day counted toward the placement in the competition. The team placed 2nd, 5th, 3rd, 9th (17 teams), and 1st respectively in the competitions.
During the season, Carson competed in the individual competition at Diamond Cheer and Dance Competition in Jekyll Island where she placed 2nd out of seven competitors. She also competed at the War of Stars on Friday night where she placed 4th out of eight competitors. She was only one-tenth of a point out of 3rd place. She was the youngest competitor in her Pee Wee division in each competition.
Carson is the daughter of Chris and Marcella Goldman. Emily is the daughter of Paul and Teresa Banks.
