Margaret E. Matheson weds Maxey Lee McGill Nov. 5

MR. AND MRS. MAXEY LEE MCGILL MR. AND MRS. MAXEY LEE MCGILL Margaret Elizabeth Matheson and Maxey Lee McGill were married at 12 o'clock noon on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at the Chateau Elan in Braselton, Georgia. The Reverend Jay McSwain, cousin of the bride, officiated.

Marcie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Christopher Matheson of Sylvania. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roderick McLeod Clifton, Sr., of Lyons and Mrs. Maxine Tucker Matheson of Lyons and the late Julius Daniel Matheson. She is a 2000 graduate of the University of Georgia where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. She received a Master of Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia in 2002. She is currently employed as a teacher of Mount Vernon Elementary School in Gainesville, Georgia.

Max is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Curtis McGill of Snellville. He is the grandson of Mr. E.L. Rainey of Stone Mountain and the late Mrs. Genevieve Hartness Rainey and Mrs. Elizabeth Belvill McGill of Lincolnton and the late Mr. Eugene Hall McGill, Sr. He is a 2003 graduate of the University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Soil Science. He is currently employed as a soil scientist with KW Soils LLC in Alto, Georgia.

Given in marriage by her father, Marcie chose her sister, Mrs. Christy Lynn Matheson Myhand of Covington, Ga., to serve as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer McGill Postrel of Miami Beach, Fla., sister of the groom; Natalie Matheson Parker of Reidsville, Ga., cousin of the bride; Candice Clifton Sears of Newnan, Ga., cousin of the bride; and Kelly Suzanne Baskin of Atlanta, Ga., sister-in-law to be of the bride and groom. Flower girl was Chanel Margaux Postrel, niece of the groom.

Max chose his father, Mr. James Curtis McGill, Sr., and brother, Mr. James Curtis McGill, Jr., both of Snellville, Ga., as best men. Groomsmen were Brian Nathan Jarvis of Grayson, Ga., Davis Randall Kendrick of Dallas, Ga., and Stuart Anthony Johnson of Alpharetta, Ga., friends of the groom. Junior ushers were Jordan Monroe Postrel and Matthew Addison Postrel, both of Miami Beach, nephews of the groom.

The reader for the ceremony was Mrs. Amanda Penland England of Cartersville, Ga., friend of the bride and greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Brad Emory Thompson of Gainesville, Ga., friends of the bride. Music was provided by Jenni Darby Thompson, pianist and Marion English, trumpeter. Soloists were Donna Chappalear, Cleve Freeman, Lisa Matheson and Debra Zeagler. Handbell ringers were Jan Austin, David Wilson and Debra Zeagler.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the Debussy Room at the Chateau Elan. The newlyweds spent the long weekend at the Albermarle Inn in Ashville, N.C. and honeymooned in St. Lucia. They will reside in Gainesville, Ga.
