Gordon T. Bradford Jr.
GORDON T. BRADFORD JR. Mr. Gordon Theodore Bradford, Jr., 73, of Ben Lane, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 2 at New Hope Baptist Church with Revs. Terry Joyner and Paul Reviere officiating. Internment followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Bradford was a life long resident of Lincoln County and the son of the late Gordon Theodore Bradford, Sr. and Pauline Danner Bradford. He was a retired textile supervisor, a veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Southeastern Paralyzed Veterans Association, Masonic Lodge #354, American Legion Post #194 and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gay M. Bradford.
Survivors include two daughters, Meg Burg and husband, John of Lincolnton and Heather Metress and husband, Darren of Grovetown, Ga.; one son, Bill Bradford and wife, Maria of Lincolnton; one nephew, Walt Armour of Lincolnton; five sisters, Elsie Polintano of Augusta, Ga., Rosa Lee Blanton of Spartanburg, S.C., Mayfelda Arnett, Betty Luking and Bobbie Wilkinson, all of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Brittany Burg, Alex Bradford, Audra Bradford and Elizabeth Metress; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family said G.T. was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He never met a stranger and was kind to everyone he knew. He was very generous and always found a way to give to those less fortunate than him. He was fun loving with a great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Pallbearers were Robert Ashmore, Richard Brown, Marvin Cox, Tommy Drinkard, Franklin Partridge, Robert Poss, Al Saggus and Scott Woodall. Honorary pallbearers were members of The Southeastern Paralyzed Veterans Association.
