The event was sponsored by the Lincoln County Athletic Booster Club in conjunction with the LCHS Athletic Department.

Guests were welcomed to the ceremony by Larry Campbell, athletic director and head football coach at LCHS. The audience then enjoyed a video, produced by Coach Mark Flowers, featuring highlights of the 2005 football season.

Following the video, a moment of silence was held as a tribute to G.T. Bradford, a true Red Devil fan, who had passed away earlier that day.

Next on the program was Lincoln County School Superintendent Randall Edmunds who read a resolution honoring the football team and coaching staff for "winning the 2005 Class A Football State Championship, for beating archrival Washington-Wilkes twice in one season, for being victorious in 12 straight games after losing the first three games of the season, and for continuing the great tradition of past Red Devil teams by winning the 13th football state championship since 1960."

At this point in the ceremony, the players, coaches, managers, and cheerleaders received their state championship rings, picture plaques, patches, medals, and a copy of the resolution read by Superintendent Edmunds. The players were also presented with jerseys, purchased by Farmers State Bank.

Those receiving rings were instructed not to open the ring boxes until all of the rings had been distributed. When this was accomplished, the senior football players returned to the stage for the unveiling of the rings, which were silver and featured a red stone shaped like a football with the number "1" in the center of the stone.

The senior football players on stage for this special occasion were Daniel Biles, Shawntavius Jennings, Ryan King, Deron Lee, Chase McGill, Trey Morris, Jonathan Norman, and Alterrique Smith.

The remainder of the evening was devoted to the presentation of the various individual awards. Those receiving recognition were:
