Selected to serve on statewide council

Amanda Gay, a ninth-grader at LCHS, has been selected to serve on the State School Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Over 400 students across the state applied for a seat on the council, but only 52 were chosen for the honor. Council members will meet with Superintendent Kathy Cox four times a year to discuss how decisions made at the state level are affecting students in Georgia’s schools; they will also serve as liaisons between students and the Georgia Department of Education. Pictured congratulating Amanda on her accomplishment is LCHS Principal Becky Barden. Amanda is the daughter of Lynn and Dennis Gay.
