American Legion families join together to help hurricane victims
The American Legion family, Post 192 Evans, Ga and Post 194 Lincolnton, Ga., joined together to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina in Pascogoula and Hattiesburg, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisana.
The American Legion Family, Post 194 collected money that went to the American Legion Department of Georgia National Emergency Fund; the Red Cross and collected baby clothes, baby food, juices, toilet articles, flashlights and batteries, cleaning supplies, paper products, plastic forks and spoons, underwear, baby wipes and children’s books which were boxed and put on two separate trailers that owner Chad Freeman drove down.
The American Legion Family Post 192 had two trucks leave on two separate occasions. They packed and boxed stuffed animals, water, nonperishable foods and toilet articles. The trucks were driven by legionnaires and auxiliary women to an American Legion Post.
The American Legion Post 538 of Eatonton took supplies to Rock Eagle in Eatonton, Georgia.
The American Legion Unit 205 of Augusta donated to the Golden Harvest Food Bank and gave money to the Red Cross.
A legionnaire of the 11th District American Legion donated $1,000 to a Church Hurricane Development Program in New Orleans.
American Legion Units and Posts are still working to help Katrina victims.
