Mrs. Pauline Tankersley Smith, of Appling, is pleased to announce the engagement of her daughter, Karyn Michelle Smith to John Webb Spratlin IV, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Webb Spratlin III of Lincolnton.

Miss Smith is the granddaughter of Mrs. Walter George Tankersley of Appling and the late Mr. Tankersley. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and is employed by the Columbia County Tax Assessors Office.

Mr. Spratlin is the grandson of Mrs. Manning Corey Freeland of Plum Branch, South Carolina and the late Mr. John Webb Spratlin, Jr. He is also the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Allen Matthews. He is a graduate of Lincoln County High School and is employed by Spratlin Hardware and Building Supplies Inc.

The wedding is planned for 4:30 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling. No formal invitations will be mailed. Friends and family are invited to attend.
