The Lincoln County Junior Red Devils scored on three big plays last Thursday, September 1, at Blanchard Stadium in Evans to improve to 2-0 on the young JV season.

Late arrivals to the ball game found that they missed little in the early going. The Devils and Knights exchanged possession seven times before either team cracked the scoreboard.

On the first play of the Devils' fourth possession quarterback Alex Ellis scrambled to his left and hit wide receiver Darrien West on a 48-yard touchdown pass. Vance Tarver's PAT gave the Devils a 7-0 lead with 4:20 on the clock in the second quarter.

On the Devils' next possession, Lincoln County quarterback number two Bo Reed displayed his aerial abilities. Reed hit wide receiver Josh Holliman on two passes of 28 and 10 yards to set up a Reed to Wilkes Goolsby 15yard touchdown pass with 33 ticks left on the clock. The Devils went in at the break ahead 13-0.

The Knights didn't go quietly as they took their opening drive of the second half 65 yards on ten plays to cut the Devils' lead to 13-7. The Knights scored on a 24-yard pop pass to their enormous tight end.

The Knights' jubilation lasted exactly seventeen seconds. On the ensuing kickoff Devil kick returner Dechane Willis sprinted 82 yards for a touchdown. The successful 2-point conversion pass to Darrien West gave the Devils the final margin of victory 21-7.

The Knights last real scoring threat was squelched by a Willis interception at the Lincoln County 15-yardline.
