Boones honored with reception
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Anthony Boone of Martinez, were honored at a reception on Saturday, July 23, given by their families in the fellowship hall of Martinez United Methodist Church in Martinez, in celebration of their recent marriage on June 4 in Gaitlinburg, Tenn.
Mrs. Boone is the former Lauren K. Hopkins of Washington, daughter of Reesie H. Poss of Thomson and Mr. and Mrs. Lance N. Hopkins of Washington. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Emily R. Leckie of Martinez and Mrs. Iris L. Dyson of Washington.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Boone of Martinez and the grandson of Cary R. Largent of Erin, Tenn.
The fellowship hall was beautifully decorated with colorful fresh flowers, greenery and candles. Grape vines adorned with tiny white lights were draped around the ceiling. The center of the L-shaped buffet displayed a large arrangement of fresh roses, gerber daisies, orchids and greenery. The bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Leckie, decorated for the occasion.
Hope Reedy of Augusta tended the guest register and was assisted by Addison Boone of Martinez, niece of the bridegroom.
The bride’s cake was a three-tiered design with basket weave butter cream icing. Fresh flowers adorned the layers and the top of the cake made by her great-aunt, Mrs. Eugenia Enlow of North Augusta, S.C., and given by the bridegroom’s parents.
The bridegroom’s cake, a gift from the bride’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Blake Winfrey of Augusta, was a jersey-shaped chocolate cake iced in University of Tennessee orange decorations. The table also held a football, jersey and other memorabilia continuing the UT theme.
Guests enjoyed a delicious assortment of party foods also prepared by Mrs. Enlow. Approximately 80 guests attended.
