Free legal assist.

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will be in Lincoln County to meet with senior citizens wanting free legal help, on a firstcome, first-serve basis. If you are a senior citizen 60 years of age or older and have a non-criminal legal issue, a staff person from GLSP will be in Lincoln County to meet with you at the Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Avenue, 9 - 11 a.m. on Tues., Aug. 23.

If you are unable to meet with them on Aug. 23, you may contact them at 1-800-248-6697.

Mamography Unit here

The Lincoln County Health Department will have the University Hospital Breast Health Center Mobile Mammography Unit visit Aug. 30, Oct. 7 and Nov. 22.

Anyone interested in having a mammogram done, please telephone the Lincoln County Health Department at 359-3154 to schedule an appointment.

Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance will pay for a screening mammogram. This mobile unit is accredited by The American College of Radiology and certified by The Food and Drug Administration.

Season tickets

Reserved seats for the 2005 Red Devil football season will be on sale at the high school office beginning Mon., Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. If you have purchased season tickets in the past, your seats will be held until Wed., Aug. 17 at which time they will be offered to those on the waiting list. Please contact Nancy Hardeman at the school.

If you do not plan to purchase your seat this year, please let Nancy know. The cost is $40 for the season.

Homecoming service

Homecoming and anniversary services will be held at Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church on Sun., Aug. 7 beginning at 2 p.m. Rev. Dennis Quinn and his church members will be in charge of the service. Rev. Raymond Thompkins is pastor.

Girl Scout reunion

Attention former Girl Scouts! Do you remember S'mores by the campfire?

Would you like to reconnect with your Girl Scout roots? Whether you were a Girl Scout for one year or twelve, in this area or another state, Girl Scouts, CSRC invites you to "S'mores by the Campfire" Alumnae Reunion at Camp Tanglewood, Thurs., Aug. 18, 7:30-8:30 p.m. For details, call the Girl Scouts at 706774-0505. Supplies for class

LCHS purchases for Spanish classes. The Tax-free school days are July 28-30, 2005. Both Ms. Goldman and Mrs. Rhodes require: 3-ring notebook & paper, 3x5 index cards, a glue stick, and scissors for home use.

Ms. Goldman also requires: either markers or colored pencils and a red pen. Mrs. Rhodes also requires: two highlighters (2 different colors) and five or six notebook dividers with tabs.

Strong to preach

Elder Otis Strong, pastor of True Light Church of the Lord Jesus and congregation will fellowship with True Fellowship on Sat., Aug. 13 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

Revival at Tabernacle

Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hwy. 220 W, will be in revival Aug. 8 - 12 at 7 p.m. with Rev. James James and Martin Crossroad Holiness Church. Everyone is invited to attend.

SALS to meet

The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194, will meet for the new year 2005-2006 on Aug. 9 at the post home at 7:30 p.m. All members are asked to make plans to attend. Our veterans need your support.

Auxiliary to meet

The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 194 will meet Thurs., Aug. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Please bring your donations of salad dressing, vinegar and mayonnaise for the food pantry.

Norman reunion

All descendants of William Norman are invited to attend the biennial Norman family reunion Aug. 5 and 6. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 5 at The Lincoln Center and will be held at Midway United Methodist Church on Sat., Aug. 6 beginning at 10 a.m.

The 85th Annual Walker Family Reunion for the descendants of Daniel Lumpkin Walker will be held at Fishing Creek Baptist Church on Sun., Aug. 21 at 1 p.m.

Price's Grove Baptist Church will have homecoming services on Sun., Aug. 7 at 11 a.m.

The guest speaker will be Rev. Henry Parks of Charlotte, N.C., pastor of Jesus Christ Baptist Church.

Scott reunion

The descendants of Thomas Jackson Scott and Mary Elizabeth Downer Scott will meet at Bethany United Methodist Church Community Center on Aug. 7 at 1 p.m. Bring a basket lunch, tea and ice will be provided.

Latimer to speak

Pastor Edna Latimer of Kingdom of God International Ministry in Athens, Ga., will be the guest speaker at True Fellowship Church Sun., Aug. 7 at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to worship with us. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

Concert at Purvis

Brazells and Favon will be in concert at Purvis Community Center Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. A love offering will be taken and concessions will be available.

Freeland reunion

The annual reunion of the Freeland family descendants of James Manning Corey and Caroline Augusta Butler Freeland will be held on Aug. 14 at Plum Branch Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 12:15. Please bring a picnic lunch and tea.

Open house at LCES

Open house will be held at Lincoln County Elementary School August 4 from 5 - 6:30 p.m.

Class of 70 to meet

The West Side High School Class of 1970 will meet Sun., Aug. 7 at the Lincoln County Library. Please bring your ideas and enthusiasm to this gathering.

Labor Day Fair

The 19th Annual Taliaferro County Labor Day Fair will be held Sept. 5 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in Crawfordville, Ga., two miles off I-20 at exit 148.

There will be all the attractions that marked the old-time county fairs: a parade, exhibits, rides and entertainment, arts and crafts and movies made in Crawfordville will be shown. Admission is free. Contact Divenski Lee at 706-456-2229 for more information.

Family reunion

The Hunter, Wells and Crawford families will have a family reunion on Aug. 26 with a fish fry at the home of Brantley and Dorothy Zellars. There will be a dinner at Elijah Clark State Park on Aug. 27. All family and friends are invited to attend.

Golf tournament to benefit habitat for humanity

The Fifth Annual Habitat For Humanity Golf Outing will be held on Sat., Aug. 20 at Monticello Golf Club in McCormick, S.C. The outing is sponsored by The Abbeville/McCormick County chapter of Habitat for Humanity. All proceeds from this event will go to providing housing for needy families in the two counties.

The event shotguns at 9 a.m. with check-in at 8 a.m. Publix will provide a continental breakfast at check-in, and there will be a lunch provided at the completion of the round.

A golf cart will be the prize for a hole in one and a raffle for many door prizes will also be held.

The entry fee is $50 per player or $200 for a foursome. Singles and groups less than four will be assigned to foursomes. Entry forms may be requested at habitatmccormick@ yahoo.com. Anniversary prog.

Kate Thigpen and The Kingdom Heirs will be celebrating their 36th anniversary at Purvis Community Center on Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. The Second Coming will perform on Aug. 13 at 7 p.m.

A love offering will be taken and concessions will be available.

Open house for Lincoln County Middle School students and parents will be held on Thurs., Aug. 4 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Middle school students should report to the cafeteria to pick up their schedules.

CPR class

The Lincoln County Office of Emergency Services will have a CPR Class Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. at the OES office.

You must come in and pre-register by Aug. 8. The cost of the class is $25, pre-registration is $10 non-refundable.

Graduation Aug. 21

First Baptist Church invites the community and friends to come out Aug. 21 at 5 p.m. to see the Class of 2005 Evangelism 101 march down the aisle for the completion of the class given for preaching and carry of the gospel.

Guest speaker will be Rev. Favors, pastor of Springfield in Thomson. Rev. Dennis Joe Quinn is pastor.
