The Lincoln County Grand Jury met Monday, January 23, and Tuesday, January 24, at the Lincoln County Courthouse, with Judge Harold A. Hinesley presiding.

During the proceedings, the grand jury handed down the following indictments:

Tommy Davis, one count of battery.

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual banquet Tuesday, February 7, at 7 p.m. at The Lincoln Center.

Special guests for the occasion will be columnist and author Tom Poland and musicians “Little Roy” Lewis and Lizzy Long. All three are native Lincoln Countians.

LCHS to host workshop for seniors, parents

LCHS will host a financial aid workshop Monday, February 13, at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

During the workshop, Hal Wilkinson, regional representative for the Georgia Student Finance Commission, will be on hand to ease the minds of college-bound seniors and their parents, who have been wondering how they are going to pay for college.

A fund has been set up at Farmers State Bank to benefit Ricky Raley, Jr., who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as primary mediaspinal lymphoma.

The proceeds will be used to help offset expenses associated with chemotherapy, radiation, and an upcoming bone marrow transplant.

I got no deal, instead my assessment followed the letter of the law which now protects taxpayers from “good old boy deals” if the taxpayer and county government will just follow a few simple instructions.
